If you have an audio file and you want to edit it, just load it into Sound Editor Pro and you will be able to easily do so. If you don’t have an audio file, you can get started by making a new recording, by loading audio from a CD, or by synthesizing text to speech. No matter which option you go for, the simple truth of the matter is that you won’t have any problems accessing the many editing functions Sound Editor Pro has to offer.

Sound Editor Pro can be installed on a PC powered by Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. To install the application, you must go through a standard setup procedure: download an executable (that’s close to 10MB in size), run it, follow the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard. When you’re done with the installation and you launch the application, you will be presented with a “Welcome to Sound Editor Pro!” prompt – it lets you get started with a new file, new recording, load a track from a CD, turn text to speech, view recently accessed files, and check out some tutorials.

The Sound Editor Pro interface is just what you would expect from an application of this type. The track you loaded is presented front and center in waveform; if you want to, you can switch from waveform to spectral mode. To the left there’s a panel with links to several editing functions; at the top there’s a toolbar with buttons for various functions the application has to offer. Anyone who has used an editing tool before should immediately feel at home with Sound Editor Pro interface.

As already mentioned, you can start out by loading an audio file, by recording music, by getting a track from a CD, or by synthesizing speech to audio. Once you have your audio file, you can edit it to your heart’s content. Sound Editor Pro has multiple editing functions to offer: resample, edit ID3 tags, trim, insert files, insert silence, fade in/out, amplify, normalize, noise reduction, crop, and more. Saving the edited audio file is the next and final step. Please note that the Save feature is disabled in the trial edition. You must also note that Sound Editor Pro is free to use for a 30-day evaluation period.

Sound Editor Pro has powerful audio editing functions to offer to Windows users.

Pros

Installing Sound Editor Pro on a Windows-powered machine is an effortless process. You will immediately feel at home using the interface. Sound Editor Pro has lots of handy audio editing functions to offer. Accessing them is a very simple matter.

Cons

30-day trial, nag screen, the Save option is disabled.
